Jade Goegebuer is the Zero Waste Manager at UCLA overseeing implementation efforts on programs to further the zero waste goals on campus. This includes working to increase source reduction on campus, engage students and staff in proper waste diversion sorting principles, and helping to further the UC’s single use plastic phase out and sustainability plans. Prior to joining UCLA, Jade worked with multiple waste management companies to implement diversion programs nationwide, with a strong focus on organics recycling at commercial properties in California. During her time as a Senior Recycling Specialist, she helped lead efforts across multiple commercial portfolios to lower recycling contamination by over 50% year over year, and increased organics participation, helping to raise the amount of food waste diverted by hundreds of tons.

Prior to shifting focus to sustainability, Jade was engaged in the art and design world, and is still an avid painter. She loves to create watercolors at the state and national parks she and her husband visit. She is also a big reader, and balcony gardener in her spare time.

Jade is a LEED Green Associate, TRUE Advisor, and holds a Bachelor of Art from Laguna College of Art Design, and a Recycling Resource Management Certificate from Santa Monica College.
