The 2024 UCLA La Kretz Center Public Lecture: “The Endangered Species Act at 50: Is it working for California?”

May 11 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

California has more native species than any state in the US, and many of them are endangered. As the US Endangered Species Act (ESA) turned 50 years old, it’s time to ask how the ESA is working for our state’s biodiversity. Join to hear from several leading voices on endangered species listing and recovery to learn, firsthand, what is working best, what is not, and how we can improve conservation actions in the future. Afterwards, join us for refreshments and informal discussions with the speakers and our current La Kretz Center postdoctoral scientists to see the work we’re doing to promote California conservation science.

This free event is open to all ages and is sponsered by the UCLA Insitute of the Environment & Sustainabilty.
