Leading the Way to Carbon Neutrality: Lessons from the University of California, Kaiser Permanente and Microsoft

At UC Berkeley on September 11, 2018, UC faculty, staff and student leaders will address how they are working to achieve carbon neutrality for the whole UC system by 2025 and leaders from major corporations will also discuss the steps necessary to turn their organizations’ ambitious climate goals into reality.

An official side event of the Global Climate Action Summit, co-hosted by UCLA School of Law’s Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, University of California Office of the President and UC Berkeley.

More than 600 universities from all 50 U.S. states have committed to aggressive targets to cut their own carbon emissions. An additional 1200 U.S. businesses and local governments have done the same. Setting the goal is an important first step. But how are complex organizations actually meeting their goals?

At UC Berkeley on September 11, 2018, UC faculty, staff and student leaders will address how they are working to achieve carbon neutrality for the whole UC system by 2025. Leaders from Kaiser Permanente and Microsoft will also discuss the steps necessary to turn their organizations’ ambitious climate goals into reality.

UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ will provide opening remarks. A reception will precede the event.

The event is an official affiliate event for the Global Climate Action Summit, hosted in San Francisco September 12 to 14, bringing together state and local governments, business and citizens from around the world to showcase climate action and new commitments.
