DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Resnick Center’s Meat Consumption at a Crossroads – Looking at the Future of Food event\, discussing the societal implications of a meat tax. \nRSVP link \nDATE: Thursday\, March 12\, 2020 \nTIME: 12:00-1:15 pm \nLOCATION: UCLA\, Law Room 1447 \nBoxed lunches will be available ahead of the event at 11:30 am to those who RSVP at a first come\, first serve basis. \nFeaturing: \nDr. Mike Rayner  \nProfessor of Population Health\, University of Oxford \nProfessor Rayner’s research interests are in public health promotion\, including food labeling\, food marketing\, food taxes\, and the relationship between a healthy diet and sustainable diet. He is involved with Oxford’s Future of Food Program and has been a leading voice in the EU and globally on a meat tax\, the purpose of which is to reduce meat consumption and production world-wide to improve health and address climate change. \n  \nModerated by: \nMichael T. Roberts \nExecutive Director of Resnick Center for Food Law and Policy \nMichael T. Roberts is the founding Executive Director of the Resnick Center for Food Law and Policy at UCLA School of Law. He is well versed in a broad range of legal and policy issues from farm to fork in local\, national\, and global food supply systems. He has authored the first major treatise on food law\, titled\, Food Law in the United States\, published by Cambridge University Press. \nMargaret E. Sova McCabe  \nDean\, University of Arkansas School of Law \nDean McCabe joined the University of Arkansas School of Law as dean and professor of law July 1\, 2018. Dean McCabe is well versed and published in food and agricultural law and recently was a panelist on the future of meat held at the annual food law academy conference in Atlanta. \n
