The Guest House is located on the UCLA campus and is designed to meet the needs of UCLA visitors, alumni, and other friends of the University. As part of the UCLA sustainability program, the Guest House is committed to pursing sustainability in all aspects of their operation. The Guest House sustainability initiatives include:
The Guest House converted lighting throughout the hotel over to LED technology, which improves efficiency and reduces energy consumption.
Linen Reuse Program
Guests are encouraged to use their in-room signage to indicate if they would like their linens/towels replaced, or if they would like to reuse them. When guests opt-in, this program saves water, electricity, natural gas and detergent.
Clean the World
The Guest House partners with Clean the World to recycle used soap, shower amenities and plastic bottles. Clean the World distributes recycled soap and hygiene products from hotels to people in need around the world, in an effort to improve hygiene and prevent the spread of disease.
The Guest House has been participating in this program since 2014, and has diverted over 600 pounds of waste from landfill. The Guest House’s participation has resulted in 1,629 bars of soap donated to those in need, 207 lbs. of plastic recycled, and 547 plastic bottles donated for reuse.
Green Cleaning Program
The Luskin Conference Center will follow the UCLA Green Cleaning Program, which ensures that healthy, natural-based products are used for indoor and outdoor maintenance.
