CA Clean Air Day
October 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
On this day of action, we encourage you to pledge to take action and consider using alternative transportation for your work commute and learn more about how pollution affects both individual and community health.
We will also host a lunchtime panel tomorrow, Oct. 7 at 12pm. Two UCLA experts – Ann Carlson, and Chris Cooper, MD – will discuss the history of air pollution in LA and its effects on lung health. Please use this link to join.
UCLA Health is committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, especially in these times of unprecedented wildfires.
- We recently added two new all-electric buses with a total fleet of three and will continue to install new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
- We are purchasing 100-percent renewable energy for our Santa Monica campus through the Clean Power Alliance.
- Additionally, our Rideshare Program offers incentives for using alternative transportation and the Earn-A-Bike program, a partnership with UCLA Transportation, provides eligible staff members with the opportunity to swap their parking permit for a $450 bicycle package.
More than 650,000 people participated in the 2019 California Clean Air Day, and officials anticipate that number will increase again this year.
