Leadership and Sustainability Coordinator, UCLA Residential Life
As the Leadership and Sustainability Coordinator for Residential Life at UCLA, Carlo Morante works to promote learning for students, faculty, and staff regarding leadership, sustainability, social justice, and civic engagement. In his role, Carlo oversees sustainability events, trainings, and other initiatives for UCLA’s Residential Life community. Some signature initiatives include Sustainival, Energy Games, Green Gala, and the Student Leadership Institute for Climate Resilience. In addition, Carlo advices Team Green, the sustainability student-group on the Hill, sits on The Green Initiative Fund committee as the staff representative, and co-manages the social media marketing for the Office of Sustainability.
Prior to his time at UCLA, Carlo worked with PeaceJam, an international non-profit dedicated to working with youth and Nobel Peace Prize winners to empower young people to create social change within their communities. This work aligned with Carlo’s main passion of facilitating social identity and leader identity exploration for people in order to develop culturally-aware, active citizens.
Carlo is a two-time Florida State University graduate where he earned a Master of Science degree in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Media/Communication Studies. In his spare time, you can find him swimming competitively at a pool or ocean with West Hollywood Aquatics, doing yoga, volunteering with the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership organization, or checking out vegan restaurants in LA.
