Sustainability Programs Manager, Health System
As the Sustainability Programs Manager for UCLA Health, Sara currently leads the sustainability program for UCLA Health, comprised of four hospitals, a medical school, and network of medical offices throughout LA. Sara focuses on waste diversion, energy use reduction, and purchasing changes to reduce the system’s environmental impact.
Sara started in the field as a researcher of climate change impacts. Looking to where she could personally make the greatest impact, she moved her career toward business sustainability, recognizing the significant opportunity to work within an organization to identify initiatives both good for the environment and company.
Sara received her Bachelor’s at UC Berkeley and Master’s in environmental management at Duke University. She previously worked on the Sustainability team at JetBlue Airways, leading various fuel savings and waste diversion projects for the airline. Sara was selected as one of GreenBiz’s 2016 “30 under 30 – Emerging Sustainability Leaders” winners.
